Clean from Knee




Overview

Clean from Knee is an exercise that demands a high degree of skill. It encourages the development of speed and fluency of movement under the bar into a deep receiving position. The exercise also requires a strong focus on the action of the pull finish.

    Key Coaching Points

    • Take great care to achieve all required all technical elements of the the starting position. See figure 1 below.
    • Start pull smoothly keeping arms completely straight.
    • Keep shoulders in front of bar for as long as possible in the pull.
    • Strive to extend body vertically upwards.
    • Drop fast into a low receiving position keeping elbows high.
    • As you drop under the bar, maintain upwards force on the bar with your arms.
    • Occasionally practise stopping in a low receiving position.
